As a Hospice and Palliative Care R.N., Kimberly Dawn Iverson spends her days caring for the terminally ill, many of whom are senior citizens. Over the years, Kimberly developed a deeper compassion and greater understanding for this generation and began to ask her patients about their dreams and the things they wanted to do. She found most were not looking for a fantastical wish, but rather simple requests. However, because of their disease and physical limitations, financial means or emotional outlook on life, these simple wishes seemed unattainable.
In order to help her patients fulfill their final wishes, Kimberly volunteered her own time and resources, to soon find her vision was much larger than anything she could do on her own. In October 2011, Kimberly launched the Bucket List Foundation with a mission to enrich the lives of terminally ill seniors by offering hope to fulfill a dream or meet a need that otherwise may not be possible. Through this organization, Kimberly hopes to promote acceptance, optimism, hope and living life to its fullest to a generation who has given so much.
Bucket List Foundation continues to advance its mission by granting one wish at a time and raising a deeper awareness of seniors in their community. Kimberly has found that the Bucket List Foundation has not only impacted the individuals themselves, but has reached their loved ones, families and community. That's why Kimberly is a 2013 Woman of Worth!
