Women of Worth Award
POSTED ON 08/10/2008
Being selected as a 2007 L'Oréal Paris Women of Worth Honoree has been very special to me. When I received notification from the Women of Worth Team, I was going through a stressful period. My mind, body and spirit were overwhelmed with taking care of everyone else, and I wasn't sure if I had the strength to continue. Receiving the notification validated Mama Hill's Help and further showed how important my service was. I saw that someone recognized the difference I was making, and that made me feel special. I then began to think about all the children and parents and former gang members who look to me for guidance, support and love. I knew they still needed me, so I used this as an opportunity to rejoice, recharge and rejuvenate myself so I could continue the mission of Mama Hill's Help. I understand that I have to take time for me and ensure I am whole so that I can help others in their maturing and healing process. This has been an amazing time for me, and I look forward to my part in the Women of Worth community.
