"There is nothing better than the moment when a child recognizes that he or she actually made a difference in someone else's life. It is empowering and life-changing. I love helping a child live his or her dream, while at the same time make a real difference in the community!"
When Anne started a "trick or treat" campaign to help kids raise money for hurricane relief in the wake of 2005's Katrina, she never imagined it would turn into a nonprofit that in just a few years has built homes and schools, put clean, safe water in communities on 4 continents, helped children with club feet walk, and so much more.
After harnessing the power of America's youth to raise over $10 Million for hurricane relief, Anne launched RandomKid, a nonprofit dedicated to helping children make a difference by educating, mobilizing, and unifying them to address the many challenges our world faces. Feeling that kids in the United States are inundated with messages promotingcreating a materialistic culture of "me," Anne founded RandomKid to encourage a culture of "us." She is helping children help others by supporting many charities and nurturing the newest generation of philanthropists.
Anne recognizes the power of any "random kid" to change the world. Anne takes children's charitable ideas seriously and helps them generate the momentum needed to achieve their service goals. Since its inception, RandomKid has united 6,000 students to give communities access to clean, safe water on four continents; it has recruited children from 50 states and 20 countries to fight AIDS and build a school in Cambodia. With Anne’s leadership, RandomKid has supported many child-led efforts, including recruiting 15,000 people to contribute to USA families with medical needs, and collecting thousands of DVDs to send to our troops here and abroad.
RandomKid currently has 33,000 budding philanthropists waiting to engage with its programs. No project is too big or small – if a child can dream it, RandomKid can help make it happen. That's why Anne is a 2009 Woman of Worth.
